Theresa May once warned that Nicola Sturgeon couldn't be relied upon to act in "good faith" and so it appears. What's more her claim to be "a feminist to my fingertips" is blown over her Vogue revelation about Truss, an exchange I'm sure that took place between what she thought was two women rather than two political rivals. Turns out Sturgeon is an attention seeker after all.

A brilliant analysis, but so depressing that so many Scots are taken in by her.

Stephen may not be getting this Sturgeon thing quite right. Celebrity? To whom? Her own SNP fan base? Perhaps, but Scottish celebrities are cursed by demographics. Unless your name is Connery or Connelly you appeal to comparitavely few and the majority in Scotland do not like her. Who really knows the context of Liz Truss's question on the Vogue photo thing? Did Liz ask her "wow, how did you blag the Vogue gig, you looked terrific; or more believeably, how did you bribe Vogue magazine when you look like a sack of sh1te permanently licking pi55 off a a nettle?" Liz Truss has shown class in not furthering the tiff. If Sturgeon is a celebrity she'd better have a new album, movie, concert tour, Netflix series or whatever in the pipeline bacause her lunatic pretendy referendum is destined to hold her up to the ridicule that is her just deserts for such an absurd tactic.

Is there any evidence for this?

She is a second rate politician when it comes to the grown up issues Yet again she shows herself up as she lays herself bare on the altar of egotism PS On another note but doesn't the police investigation into the misuse of 600k of funds beginning to look farcical How long does it take ? If everything was all above board surely it could have been wrapped up in a couple of weeks

We would be foolish to underestimate her streetwise cunning .. yet that is what she has .. not strategy , not political acumen . Sadly her inflated ego is only attractive to those who lack any ability to judge character and integrity . Some are vulnerable , some aggrieved while others seek fulfilment for their own ambitions in following her

I don’t think they’re real Scots . They’re mainly of Irish descent living in the greater Glasgow area .

With Sturgeon being known as a habitual liar are we now to believe that this conversation topic actually took place?

Probably it was just polite conversation.

Imagine Johnson supporters complaining that Scotland has a leader people actually like. Personalised attacks, signalled by Truss, and the right wing extremists of the ERG delivered by the billionaire owned journos of the Daily Mail.

That’s a point of view I suppose.

What’s your take on what Sturgeon said about Rennie?

It was well deserved when he had just lied about her on the floor of the Scottish parliament.

Do they? I mean... really, do they like her? Even the die hard SNP fans, do they REALLY like her? I find it difficult to believe. It seems more a question of "wheesht (sp?)... indy".

Propaganda on both sides. But, the last election saw the SNP gain its highest vote share in history. And with the Indy Greens a majority of votes. I’ll leave those facts to speak for her.

Andrea's avatar

Well, no. Even with the greens and Alba still don't get to the majority. However, my question still stands... Do they like HER? No doubt they win election after election, we all know that. I think it is more a matter of an anti-English vote and as we all know that independence is just behind the next corner... they keep voting SNP. The SNP winning elections to me is a way (for Scotland as a whole) to play victim and avoid taking any responsibility. There wouldn't be anything wrong with with voting SNP in general, but given that in 15 years they have accomplished zilch (except the scrapping the tolls and the baby boxes) they deserve to lose votes. The fact that they don't must make one question what people are voting for - and that is not better governance. In the meantime the SNP will continue to do what they are doing because there is no incentive to do any better, and we all lose out as a consequence.

They should lose not because so independence is off the table, although that would be a welcome by-product, but because they are useless at governing *and* at furthering the independence agenda. Maybe if they had more quality people they would be in better place now.

So do the *like* her? I think they are *stuck* with her.

Ms Sturgeon has to realise that ‘fame for fame’s sake’ is not enough to achieve long term renown . She has actually got to do something for the benefit of the Scottish people which will be remembered and for which we will be grateful . To date she has failed to do so and perhaps never will . Her only chance of everlasting celebrity is to bring Independence ‘over the line’ . However , if she’s not very careful her fame may well turn into infamy .
